A new continent has appeared in the ocean. Everyone wants to claim it, but first someone has to map it, and satellites can’t do the job. While governments hire treasure-hunting companies, Hermigio, a gruff old atheist, sets off on his own with his old-fashioned mapmaking tools. Determined to chart this last untouched land the old way, he sails out on a rickety little boat. After an eventful voyage, he finally reaches the shore, but what he finds there is not what he expected.
The Emerged Continent is a fable of adventure and humor, written in a Cervantine voice with a philosophical undercurrent, about encountering the other and the place of old things in a world that no longer needs them.
